and old members are you fit and ready for the Kevin Tiernan
Trophy? This is the highlight of the RTC summer
campaign.
For
the uninitiated this is a competition for all adult members.
Players are matched with players of complimentary ability and
teams are seeded according to joint rank. Therefore the
strongest players have to support their weaker partners
whereas the average player is matched with someone of similar
ability. This format has successfully delivered superbly
competitive tournaments each year. If you
miss everything else don't miss this. If you know the
rules and are fit enough to play 25-30 games then enter as
soon as you get a text notifying of the entries.
Don't
forget this is the main club event of the year. As it is
the 10th Anniversary its planned to push the boats out.
Matches 12-6, You
might even get a cup of tea around 3 or 4 pm before the knock
outs.
BBQ
5-9, Music 6-9 and prize giving around 7 or 7.30 pm, all members
and their families
welcome.
If
you can't
get a chance to play,
come and enjoy the clubs biggest day, relax and meet the other
members. Maybe even bring a cake to share but come
anyway.
Exact
Starting time to be announced: usually 12 am but it depends on the number of
entries. last year
28 players.

Fee: €15
Due
to the system used to allocate partners, it is not possible to switch partners
or substitute.
Substitution
is only allowed in extreme cases and substitutes will be allocated by the
Tournament Referee, you will not be allocated a hugher ranked or better partner
Entry
closes 6 days prior to competition: Sunday 3rd August, bank holiday Sunday .
This competition will be drawn once and therefore No Late entry can be
entertained.
Draw
will be announced and posted here and at club notice board Wednesday 6th August

Doubles Teams as per seeded draw:
Qualifying
rounds in 4 sections
2
sections with 4 teams:
Each team to play 3 matches of 7 games
2
sections with 3 teams
Each team to play 2 matches of 11 games
Toss
for service and no advantage, 1st point after deuce wins
(except semi & final)
First
2 teams in each section go through to play off section (4 pm
approx.)
In
the event of two teams on equal points the team who beat the other
goes through
Knock
Outs 9 games to inc. van, 9th game a tie break
