Hanlon's lift the Championships
Brother and sister, Leonard and
Anne Marie Hanlon took the Mens and Ladies Singles
Championships 2007. While
Leonard held off Club president Martin Shiel in straight
sets. Newcomer Catherine Hacket
ensured that Ann Marie had to work very hard.
Catherine showed great skill and
resilience in defeat and just lost in the end.
Andy and Kate on the Double
Andy Shiel and Kate Fullam are
two of the clubs top young players. They have showed
consistent form
throughout the season and having
combined to lift the Kevin Tiernan trophy earlier, have now
reached
the final of the ladies and men's
doubles respectively. While Andy and John Goff won their
final and
Kate partnered Jean Rowan was
just shaded out of the top spot in the ladies doubles. PD

The Ladies doubles final
finished Friday night 21st September, with Ronnie and Catherine winning in 3
sets,
It was a great final, the first part, which was played last Friday, was
mainly dominated by long baseline rallies,
but on resumption of the game tonight
and especially in the final set there was some classic doubles net play.
The experience of Ronnie,
together with Catherine's very accurate baseline shots, just proved too much for
Kate and Jean, who twice came back from the brink with some nice combinations of
net (Jean) and baseline
(Kate) play. It was a game worthy of a final.
